I am not going to list the books that I read last year. It was a kind of intense year, and many of the books that I read had to do with school or with my comprehensive exam for my master’s degree (which I passed!). I did however set some goals on this blog:(https://litbitchbooks.com/2021/01/05/2021-reading-goals/).
I thought I read much more on my list than I actually did, but I accomplished about 4/7 (I only today realized I skipped 6 on my list!) of the goals that I listed:
How to Be an Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi
The Opposite of Loneliness by Marina Keegan
Normal People by Sally Rooney
I also finished the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas, for which I read the last three books this year, which was pretty intense.
Imitations by Zadie Smith: I just simply did not get to this
Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson, of which my boyfriend got me the first one. I am actually currently reading the first book.
I also did not read a book in German, but I did just order Drachenreiter (Dragon Rider auf English) by Corenelia Funke, so I will hopefully get to that soon. I was actually taking German courses all year last year, so I didn’t need to do something else in German to keep up with it, but I decided to take a break from German this semester in favor of a rhetoric course, so hopefully reading a fun children’s book in German will help me keep up with it. I also am hoping to watch Dark for continued German exposure. I am really excited for Drachenreiter because I enjoyed the English translation of Funke’s Inkheart when I was about 11. I also just realized that back then I thought her name was pronounced like the music genre, but, since I’ve studied German, I now know that it is two syllables.
